Supported Employment Program (SEP)

 

VAC's Supported Employment Program offers services to developmentally disabled adults. These individuals would be current clients of the Kern Regional Center and referred to the Department of Rehabilitation for Supported Employment Services.

Among the services we provide are :

Vocational Assessment – Assist consumers by determining their educational/vocational levels, transferable work skills, abilities and interests.

Job Placement – Assist consumers to seek appropriate competitive employment. Training in job seeking skills may be included. Short-term follow up services may be provided to assist consumer in job stabilization.

Job Coaching – Assist consumers by providing support on or off the job in improving and/or stabilizing job performance and retention.

Stacy Peyton has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education since August of 2000. She started working in ECE during her junior year in High school she was a teacher assistant in an ROP program. As soon as she turned of age she landed her first real job working as a teacher at a local preschool and since then she has worked with children and adults of all ages. Stacy has attended several professional growth workshops and she’s always willing to learn something new. She has earned her Associate of Arts degree in Child Development and Family Relations and plans on to earn her Bachelors degree in Child Adolescent and Family Studies.
Stacy has been involved with Valley Adult Services since December of 2006. She is currently the SEP Manager/PVSA Trainer (Personal Vocational and Social Adjustment). However Stacy has taken on several responsibilities and roles during her time here at VAS. “I love my job mainly because I know that I have the ability to change the lives of others and I’m taking that to every advantage. I knew from the start that I would enjoy this field and I feel very privileged to be working in such a positive environment with such great people.”
 


Jerry Pounds

Jerry Pounds has been with Valley Adult Services since April of 2006 as a Job Developer. He has worked in the field of sales for many years. He was the president of the San Fernando Valley Food Sales association representing all of the Grocery industries of Southern California. Jerry has also served in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific – World War II and the Korean War in 1950. Jerry took part in the making of the annual Toys for Tots in 1946 with the United States Marine Corps.
