| TITLE: TEACHER
SPECAL EDUCATION – BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
REPORTS TO: Assistant School Director or Administrator
JOB SUMMARY: To provide each physically and emotional challenged student
with a program that will enable
him/her to reach their fullest developmental, behavioral, and academic
potential
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• In cooperation with Executive School Director Assistant School
Direct and other staff members, plans and implements program of instruction
consistent with VAC’s course of study and student’s individualized
educational program
• Creates classroom environment conducive to effective learning
and behavioral control, and which allows each student opportunity to grow
to their maximum potential
• Evaluates each student’s learning needs and plans and provides
individualized instruction to meet specific needs
• Participates in initial placement, review and annual evaluation
meetings as required
• Maintains accurate and complete records as determined by law,
program needs and VAC policy
• Coordinates efforts of professional staff to integrate students
into regular program
• Carries out assigned supervision duties outside of classroom as
teacher of regular students is required
• Participates in staff development activities as required
• Communicates pupil progress with parents and maintains effective
school-community relations
• Collaborates with DIS service providers and outside consultants
• Ensures data collection summarization and evaluation procedures
are constructed on a regular basis in conjunction with Behavior Support
Manager and Program Administrators
• Performs other related duties assigned
• Adheres to principals of Applied Behavior Analysis in the development,
implementation and evaluation of student educational programs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be according to VAC ‘s
Schedule
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
VAC’s Employee Handbook and Board Policies
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor Degree in Education Previous teaching experience or
successful student teaching
• Appropriate California Teaching Credential authorizing service
to physically and emotional challenged students
• Knowledgeable in areas of: learning theory, Applied Behavior Analysis,
human growth and development, curriculum and instructional strategies
• Ability to develop and promote appropriate social behavior in
students
• Competence in area of assignment
• Sincere concern and respect for students
• Enthusiasm for teaching an ability to be dependable and flexibility
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents
• Experience working with children with autism and in the use of
Applied Behavior Analysis

• Valid California Drivers License
• California Teacher Credential
• Valid and current CPR Certificate
• Valid and current First Aide Certificate
