TITLE: PRE-SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL
AIDE
JOB SUMMARY: To assist the After School Program Administrator in providing
well-organized and
efficient program in which students with special needs benefit from instructional
program.
REPORTS TO: Program Manager or Administrator as assigned
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists teachers, specialists, counselors and other staff in
reinforcing instructional program and guiding students in development
of desirable academic and social skills and habits
• Works with small groups of children under direction of member
of certificated staff
• Work with a variety of students with Autism Spectrum
• Implement VAC techniques and approval methods of intervention
for student behavior(s) and applied behavior analysis
• Assists with checking, care, preparation and arrangement of instructional
materials and equipment
• Assists with yard duty, first aid and home contacts
• Assists with recordkeeping, filing and other clerical duties as
appropriate to program funding
• May be assigned to assist in classroom, library, computer instruction,
in-school suspension, and/or community contact activities
• Assist in child restraint and providing First Aide and CPR in
cases of an emergency
• Performs other related duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of High School Diploma and passage of Valley Achievement
Center proficiency test; audio-visual and teacher aide courses desirable
• Minimum of 3 units of Child Development
• Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to assist in implementing
VAC techniques and approved methods of intervention for student behavior(s)
and Applied Behavior Analysis techniques.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Knowledge of basic clerical procedures
• Ability to learn computer skills
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in staff, students
and parents
• Maintain organization of student work areas
• Maintain confidential student records and files
• Participate in student behavior modification plan
• Maintain records of student progress
• Knowledge of crisis management techniques – ability to react
effectively and commonly in emergency situations
• Prior experience in a childcare center or facility with children
with special needs
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be according to current
VAC schedule
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
VAC’s Employee Handbook and Board
Policies
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATION:
• Valid California Drivers License
• CPR and First Aid Certificate of Completion
• Certification of Completion of Pro-Act- training (within 3 months
of hire date)
• CCL requirements on file in employee personnel file |
